A team from Barbers Estate Agents successfully completed a fund raising event for Severn Hospice on the 23rd June, which saw walking the 45 miles between all five of the Barbers Branches in Shrewsbury, Wellington (Telford), Newport, Market Drayton and Whitchurch in just 15 hours! Simon Dodds and Simon Beedles walked the complete route and were joined by fellow colleagues including Andrea Shotbolt, Jayne Dawes, Mark Bielby, Sophie Gwynne, Janine Bennett, Mark Hares, Trine Jarman and Mike Arthan on different legs of the trek. The walkers were very well supported by fellow colleagues & family providing food and drink at the stops and en route.
Mike Arthan, Managing Director at Barbers says “Congratulations to both Simon’s for enduring the complete 45 miles and encouraging the team to get involved with raising money for this deserving cause.” He further comments “We like to thank all of the staff that have been involved and everybody who took the time to sponsor us, as well as the Red Cow Pub in Whitchurch, who kindly provided a celebratory buffet as we completed the walk.”

As a reminder of why we chose to support this charity, Severn Hospice needs to raise £3.9 million (£11,000 a day) each year to continue to provide care and support to the thousands of patients from across Shropshire and Mid Wales facing difficult times. The Hospice is only able to help so many patients and their loved ones thanks to the generosity of others. A patient Michael Cheshire said of the Hospice ‘This wonderful, self financing oasis of unselfishness is available in this hectic world to provide such wonderful service to those in need. Not only have I been introduced to a true treasure but have also found caring love and a wonderful sanctuary’
