Barbers put the kettle on and held a highly competitive bake-off, to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer. Friday September 27th saw the staff bring in their homemade wares ready for judging and ultimately for selling and raising money.
Staff, friends, family and customers were invited to dig deep in their pockets but were rewarded with a range of tasty bakes including Devil’s Food Cake,
Victoria Sponges, Cup Cakes, Carrot Cake, Bakewell Tarts and a selection of other delicious treats!
Our Wellington office had an incredible fund raising day, which even included Radio Shropshire dropping in for an interview with their Sales Manager,
Jayne Dawes. They arranged for Richard Hustwick, a local surveyor, to be the judge and he declared Julie Armstrong’s, “Apple Loaf” the winner.
Meanwhile, our Market Drayton office also hung out the bunting and laid the table cloth for another round of judging by our resident Accompanied Viewer,
Rob Moseley. He in turn voted Donnas Carrot Cake the overall winner with the rest of the team awarded Silver!
The event is Macmillan's biggest fundraising event in which people across the UK take part and hold a coffee morning, in 2012 115,000 people signed up, raising a record £15 million. So far this year’s event has risen over £12 million with donations still to be paid in.
Barbers Bake Off donated £500 towards this worthwhile cause and was an ideal opportunity to help raise money and enjoy each other’s creative baking. Well Done!
